TAWAU: Four people, including two Indonesians, were detained here Saturday following the discovery and seizure of 220 crocodiles suspected to have been smuggled in from Indonesia.
The crocodiles, including five already dead, were seized in a joint operation conducted by the Tawau Wildlife Department and Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) in the mangrove forest in Kg Pasir Putih, near here.

District Wildlife Officer, Sailun Aris, said the seizure at 10.30am was based on an Esscom initial intelligence report.
“Two locals and two Indonesians aged between 55 and 61, suspected to be involved in smuggling in the reptiles, were also detained,” he said.
