Ten detained in anti-gambling ops

KEPALA BATAS: Police have detained eight man and two women for conducting illegal lottery and online gamblings in Ops Dadu Khas in the Seberang Perai Utara district (SPU) here Sunday.
SPU district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the 10, aged 36 to 59 years, were detained after police conducted checks at 10 different locations in Kepala Batas, Butterworth and Mak Mandin from 10 am to 7 pm.

‘’Based on investigation, they were found to be the organisers of the illegal lottery and top up gambling activities. Police also seized five cellphones, three mobile printers, 19 pieces of paper with figures printed on them, calculator and cash RM832,’’ he said here Monday.
He said that all the seized items would be sent to a gambling expert for analysis and the police were also hot on the heels of other illegal gambling activities in the district.

He said that all those detained were remanded for three days for investigation under Section 4A(a) and 4B(a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953. – Bernama
