Man seriously hurt in Ranau mishap
RANAU: A local was seriously injured when the Proton Iswara he was driving collided with a Toyota Hilux, near here, Thursday.

Selustin Suringon was driving from Tamparuli to Ranau when his vehicle collided with the Toyota Hilux moving on the opposite direction at Km 5 Ranau-Tamparuli Road near Kg Kibbas at about 2pm.

Ranau Police Chief, DSP Mohd Shahrul Datuk Hj Abdul Whab, said the incident occurred when the Proton Iswara, coming from Tamparuli to Ranau, suddenly entered the Toyota Hilux’s lane while at the same time the Toyota Hilux tried to avoid a collision but to no avail.

“Due to accident, both vehicles suffered severe damage. The Proton driver was severely injured in the head, left hand fracture and broken right leg along with various other injuries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ranau Fire and Rescue Chief, Ridwan Mohd Taib, said the department received a call at 2.04pm and rushed a fire engine and an EMRS vehicle to the scene along with six personnel led by Norazly Mohd Nouth.

“Upon arrival, rescuers removed the victims from inside their vehicles and sent them to the Ranau Hospital,” he said, adding that the case is being investigate under Section 43 Road Transport Act 1987.
