Unable to use phone for over 3 months

A technical fault was to blame for the problems which a Manggatal Telekom Malaysia (TM) Bhd subscriber experienced in using his phone in Taman Indah Permai.
A TM spokesman said a check revealed that there was a problem with one of its installations servicing the neighbourhood.

“Our technicians found that the back-up battery, inside the cabinet, was malfunctioning due to the frequent blackouts in the area,” he said.
“The customer’s service was restored after the faulty component was replaced.”
He said the company’s management was weighing up the possibility of using alternative sources to power the battery inside the cabinet.
The spokesman apologised, on behalf of the company, for the inconvenience caused to the customer.

FRAN of Manggatal bemoaned his inability to make or receive calls for more than three months.
“No dial tone was audible, when the receiver is picked up,” he said.

“My friends tell me they can get through to the number but the phone doesn’t ring.”
He said he had wearied of reporting these problems to TM’s ‘100’ – Customer Care – line.
Francis estimated that, between June and August 23, when he contacted Hotline, he made more than 10 calls to the company’s Customer Care Line.
“I have run up a hefty amount in handphone charges contacting TM about my problems.
“The Customer Care staff can only assure me that action is being taken to restore my line as soon as possible.
“They are, however, unable to tell me when I will be able to use phone again or what has given rise to this problem.”
He said he never failed to settle his TM charges in full each month.
Francis felt it was unfair to pay such a hefty subscription for a service which was altogether not forthcoming.”
