Employers’ role in disseminating Socso info
SANDAKAN: Employers and employer representatives play an important role in disseminating information about the Social Security Organization (Socso) to employees.

Sandakan MP Vivian Wong said the involvement of employers and employer representatives in the Socso Seranta programme which aimed at providing more information about the implementation of new schemes offered by Socso, will help to provide information related to Socso to their employees.

“I hope trough the Seranta programme, it will continue to raise awareness of employer’s responsibilities and workers’ rights of the heirs left to their welfare.

“Apart from providing relevant information, I hope through the programme, the number of accidents will reduce and more employees will always be concerned with their safety while working.

“I also hope that the entrepreneurs and employer representatives as well as Sosco representatives can establish a good working relationship,” Vivian said at the Socso Seranta programme on Thursday.

In another development, as a measure of concern for the safety of travel and backpacking, Socso Sandakan also implemented 10 accident prevention advocacy programmes in collaboration with the Road Transport Department, Occupational Safety and Health Department and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Niosh).

She said the programme was held around Sandakan and beyond its area with lectures and contribution of helmets to eligible motorcyclists.
