Drugs: 54 nabbed in KK op

Kota Kinabalu: Fifty-four people aged between 13 and 54, including 14 foreigners, were detained for various drug offences during a week-long operation dubbed “Ops Sarang”, here, since Nov 23.

The operation centred on areas in Kg Sembulan, Kg Bakau and Sinsuran.

Of the figure, one was arrested for an offence under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measure) Act 1985 for drug supply and distribution, six for drug distribution, 11 for drug possession and 36 for testing positive for drugs.

Police also seized 140.95gm of syabu and 21.96gm of ketamine worth a total of RM24,435.50. The operation was aimed at identifying and taking action against drug distribution syndicate members around the State Capital. Efforts to eradicate drug distribution and substance abuse in the city will be intensified from time to time to ensure public order and wellbeing, according to City Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji, in a statement, Sunday. To boost the efforts, the public are urged to channel information to the city police Hotline at 088-529220 or via Facebook at Polis Daerah Kota Kinabalu.
