Man held, drugs worth RM2,500 seized in Penampang

PENAMPANG: The district’s Narcotics Investigation Division arrested a suspected drug dealer and seized RM2,500 worth of drugs in Beverly Hills, Jalan Bundusan, here, recently.
Penampang District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said ecstasy powder weighing 126.41gm and Erimin 5 pills weighing 5.05gm were seized.

The 35-year-old suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
“A vehicle estimated to be worth RM45,000 was also seized for investigation under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which can be subject to the mandatory death penalty if convicted,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
He said the case is also being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15 (1)(a) of the same act while the suspect’s remand period is until Friday (March 15).
