TUARAN: A housewife thought it was just a pile of wet clothes when she went to use an outdoor toilet outside her home at Telipok Settlement Scheme.
Instead, it was a three metre-long monitor lizard. Fatimah, 39, called the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) upon the discovery at 11.30am.

“At first, I thought that there was another person in the toilet because the door could not be opened.
“I called a few times to check who was in the toilet but after a few minutes I push the door to open it. I was shocked to see a monitor lizard instead who didn’t even budge when I opened the door and initially, I thought it was just a pile of wet clothes,” she said.
Tuaran APM officer, Paulina Francis, said the lizard weighed 32kg.
She said the animal was not aggressive and was eventually released back into the jungle far from the area. – R. Gonzales
