PENAMPANG: Police here denied a picture uploaded on social media showing detainees at the district Police Station as genuine.Penampang Police Chief DSP Mohd Haris Ibrahim said the picture was uploaded by a Facebook account under the name of “Faizal Hussin” saying “apa macam tinggal di sini siok kah.. kerana kedegilan dan keras kepala merasa jua kamu tinggal di lokap” or “(how does it feel like living here, is it fun? ... because of stubbornness, now you know how it feels like being in jail)”.

Mohd Haris said they are affected by the images shared on social platforms, especially when the country is now hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The case is being investigated under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (MCMC) 1998,” adding the public should not spread false statements that could tarnish the image of the authorities and interfere with the public order.
