“The shortage is significant as it has been purchased wholesale by the people’s representatives. However, the rice stock will be restocked.”
He said due to the extension of the Movement Control Order which was extended until April 14, the rice was purchased wholesale by them (people’s representatives) but this does not mean it was panic purchasing.
The complaint alleged that the normal priced rice was no longer sold and that what was left of the sale was some of the more expensive rice types.
Bisaya Bersatu Sabah Association Deputy President Ruslan Muharam said he had gone to the supermarket and found that there was a shortage in supply of rice.

“Only expensive variety rice was sold and the people cannot afford it,” he said, adding that he later asked the KPDNHEP to monitor the supply.
“I understand that most of the rice priced at RM26 for 10kg was purchased wholesale by the people’s representatives for distribution to the people of Lumadan and Klias,” he said.
