20 people charged with taking drugs at Tawau wild party

The two single mothers among those taken to court yesterday.
TAWAU: Twenty people, including two single mothers, aged between 20 and 37 who were engaged in a wild party in a luxury homestay were charged with taking drugs.All of them were brought before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus, Friday.

However, no plea was recorded pending the chemist’s reports on the drug and the court fixed Aug 4 for mention.
The court offered RM1,800 bail in two sureties for each, except three of them who have no documents.
In asking for lower bail sum, all of them informed the court that they have no jobs, no income and cannot afford a high bail.
Meanwhile, two men and a woman were fined RM1, 000 in default 30 days’ jail for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Mohd Iqbal Japar, 22, Abdul Sidi Mulpy, 29, and Kimberly Henrikus, 24, admitted to committing the offence at a house in Taman Nordin at 8.30am on June 30.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The court heard that the trio had violated the RMCO by engaging in activity which involved many people at a place with no social distancing.
