Senior state official, lawyer remanded in graft probe

Kota Kinabalu: A senior state official and a lawyer were remanded by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in its investigations into two linked corruption cases.
The senior official was brought to the Magistrate's Court, here, on Thursday and remanded for four days to facilitate an investigation into suspected corruption linked to infrastructure development projects.

The lawyer was remanded for six days until July 15 by Magistrate Afiq Agoes following an application by the MACC in a case under Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009 for an alleged offence by a commercial organisation.
The lawyer was represented by counsel Dominic Chew and Faezah Abby Ibnu while Prosecuting Officer Mohd Faliq Basirudin appeared for the MACC.
