Man charged with sexual harassment against stepdaughter, 13

Kota Kinabalu: A 45-year-old man was ordered to enter his defence on two charges of committing physical sexual harassment against his 13-year-old stepdaughter.Sessions Court Judge Ummu Kalthom Abd Samad made the order for the man after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the man.

The court set Sept 13 this year for the man’s defence.
On the first count, the man is accused of committing the offence by fondling the girl’s breasts at 1pm on July 3, 2019 in a room of a house in a village in Ranau.
On the second count, he allegedly committed the same offence against the girl at the same time in the living room of the house.
The offence under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
