RANAU: A village house was destroyed in a fire in Kg Kilimu, early Tuesday.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief, Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened at about 7.40am.

According to him, the Ranau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call at 7.56am via the MERS999 line.

“A total of nine firefighters with two machines were mobilised to the scene for extinguishing and rescue operations.

“Upon arriving at the scene, which is located 6km from BBP Ranau, firefighters found that a non-permanent house was almost totally burnt,” he said.

He said the fire brigade carried out the operation using a single stream with two jets from the machinery’s water tank.

“The fire brigade was able to control the fire in less than an hour and the operation was concluded after all the locations were completely safe,” he said.

He said no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the incident and the estimated loss are still under investigation.
