Kota Kinabalu: The sacrifices of a group of people from all walks of life who participated in the Kinabalu Guerillas movement in defending their community are commemorated on Jan 21 every year since 1946 through memorial services held at the execution site in Petagas.

The first-ever memorial service for the victims was held on Jan 20, 1946 by Jesselton’s Chinese committee after people realised there was a need to care for the war dead and their families.
