PAPAR: A 28-year-old motorcyclist died after he was thrown off his motorcycle and under a trailer along Km 27, Jalan Papar-Kota Kinabalu, on Thursday night.District Police Chief DSP Batholomew ak Umpit said the incident occurred at 9.15pm when the victim was heading towards Papar from Kota Kinabalu during a heavy downpour.

“Upon arriving at the curved stretch, the motorcyclist hit a water puddle on the road and lost control of his motorcycle. The victim then entered the opposing lane and crashed into a trailer that was headed in the opposite direction,” he said.
The victim was then run over by the trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer, he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said 10 personnel rushed to the scene after receiving a call at 9.21pm.
