Trio hurt in Papar accident

PAPAR: Three people were hurt in an accident involving two vehicles along Km 30 Jalan Lama Papar-Kota Kinabalu, here, Saturday.District Acting Police Chief ASP Rosli Rasi said the 11.15am incident happened when a van, heading to Kampung Sulim from Pekan Kinarut, attempted to make a U-turn towards Papar.

“A Toyota Hilux that was travelling from Papar attempted to brake and avoid the van but could not do so in time.
“This led to collision between both vehicles which damaged both vehicles,” he said.
The van driver along with his three passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Papar Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Rule 3(2)(B) LN166/59 by Traffic Investigation Assistant Office Sergeant Mark Minsol Binal.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said a team of four personnel led by Senior Officer Kamaruddin Kamaruljaman rushed to the scene after being notified at 11.19am.
Upon arriving, the team extricated the victims in the van. The operation ended at 12.38pm.
