Kota Kinabalu: A shipping container allegedly containing smuggled chicken wings from Poland was detained in an operation led by Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Datuk James Ratib, near here, on Monday night.

He said in the operation held from 9.00pm to 10.00 pm, they managed to locate a container truck from Sepanggar which they suspected was  carrying smuggled goods.

“We followed it to the destination accompanied by several policemen and also the Veterinary Department,” James said.

“Upon arrival at the location, we asked the team from the Veterinary Department to open this container and we found that the chicken wings carried by this container were not included in the list allowed by the Veterinary Department.

“I will instruct the officers at the Veterinary Department to make a police report at the nearest police station for further action.”
