Kota Kinabalu: The three-day Big Sabah Sale kicked off at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here Friday and is expected to rake in RM1 million in sales, said SICC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki.

With more than 250 booths offering exceptional value and premium choices, she said the exhibition would cater to the locals’ shopping needs for the coming festivities such as Christmas, Chinese New Year and even Hari Raya.

The 10am-9pm event from Dec 15 to 17 (closing at 6pm on the last day), offers premium goods and services in various categories such as gourmet, household, lifestyle, fashion, electrical appliances and home decors by established entrepreneurs.

Besides the 250 booths, visitors can aalso engage in activities such as The Voice, Bridal Show, Hobbytamu, Cooking Demo, E-Sport and Explorace.

“We have established a (one-stop) location where we can meet the people’s needs for the festivities with reasonable prices and ample choices,” she told reporters after the launching of the event at SICC by the Guest of Honour, the Chief Minister’s wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag.

Rosmawati said the exhibition features both local and international exhibitors hailing from Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei and China, among others.

“We can see (the entrepreneurs) are well prepared for this event. There are many products that we do not usually see at exhibitions and we have successfully gained their trust that (the Big Sabah Sale) is the right platform for them to promote their products.

“We hope to achieve about RM1 million in sales,” she said, adding the extravaganza is expected to garner some 5,000 visitors each day.

“There are many complementary activities happening simultaneously, such as the Bandaran Night Market, which will have buskers as a form of entertainment.

“So SICC will be the place for people to visit during the weekend. It is also the school holidays. We hope visitors from Brunei and Labuan will also come,” Rosmawati added.

The Big Sabah Sale, organised for the first time, also aims to support local businesses, foster collaborations and build partnerships.

Rosmawati said beyond business, the Big Sabah Sale would strengthen the sense of community in Sabah, contributing to a supportive ecosystem for local businesses’ long-term success while reflecting SICC’s commitment to serving the community and promoting local economic growth.

The sale’s strategic partners are Instant Exhibitions, Sounds Tech Production Sdn Bhd, Mega Home Expo, Tanjong Keramat and Sabah Electronic Sports Association.

It is also supported by the police, Road Transport Department (JPJ), Sabah Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMC), Bank Rakyat, Tabung Haji, Maybank, Malaysia Building Society Bhd’s (MBSB), Agro Bank and SME Bank.
