Ranau folks hold gotong royong to replace old gravity water pipes

RANAU: Residents of Kg Dambalang, Kg Marakau and Kg Kituntul Lama, here put aside the work of planting rice in rice fields to participate in a gotong royong recently.
The voluntarily united effort was organised in order to complete the installation of gravity water pipes to supply the three villages’ 350 population with 97 heads of families.

The chairman of the Gravity Piped Water Supply Committee of the three villages, Clement Umbun, said that each family was required to participate in the gotong royong as it is a responsibility and necessity as well as a common interest.
“On behalf of the residents, I thank Ranau Member of Parliament, Jonathan Yasin, for helping us finance the cost of the equipment required to install Gravity Water Pipes in our villages,” he said.
This, he said, was to purchase PVC2 to replace the old and worn out pipe equipment installed 18 years ago carried out according to population groups (A and B).
The PVC2 installation works could be completed in the near future through gotong royong, said Clement after the gotong royong involving Group A recently that was attended by some 14 residents.

“Through the MP’s RM21,103.20 contribution, it relieves the hearts of the residents because the problem of damage to the gravity pipe supply in our village has been solved,” he added.
