CELCOM Timur (Sabah) Sdn Bhd has agreed to relocate a concrete pole away from in front of a house in Taman Kinamount as the structure disrupts the flow of “feng shui” to the premises.

A spokesman for the company said it was presently in discussions with the homeowner about the best place to site the pole outside her fence.

“One of our personnel met with the occupant two days ago to learn more about her concerns,” he said.

“This will allow us to determine how best to help her.”

He explained that the pole was part of its “fibre-to-home” infrastructure in the housing area.

“We were granted the way-leave from City Hall last year to put up our poles on the verges around Taman Kinamount.”

The road reserves around the Luyang residential property are under the agency’s purview.

When asked about the likelihood of the pole falling over into the compound for the house, the spokesman said there was a minimal risk of this happening.

“We dug down to the required depth before planting the pole and installed the necessary accessory in order to hold it in place.

“It is in a stable position. When we went to the housing road on Wednesday we noticed that it was still upright.

“There was no evidence that it was leaning over either towards the road or the fence of the house nearby.”

Celcom Timur (Sabah) is a joint venture company which is geared towards setting up fibre optic networks around the State.

ROWENA of Luyang said that only a single metal pole had stood outside her fence for years.

“I was taken aback to find that a new concrete one had been put up next to it recently,” she said.

“I cannot understand what this second pole could be for.”

She was also displeased that she had not been consulted before the new structure was erected.

“I could have given the parties who installed the pole some idea of the best place to put it up.

“In its present location, the pole has a less than favourable impact on the ‘feng shui’ of my residence.”

Rowena was initially under the impression that the pole might belong to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) or Telekom Malaysia (TM) Bhd and appealed to the management of the respective companies to step in, if this was the case.

She provided Hotline with the location of her home which was forwarded to Celcom Timur, SESB and TM.

Spokesmen for the latter said they were helpless to intervene as the pole was outside SESB’s or TM’s jurisdiction.

“The pole has nothing to do with the electricity cables or TM overhead lines servicing Taman Kinamount,” they said.
