Kota Kinabalu: Sabah International Convention Center’s (SICC) inaugural Business Events Forum is set to be held from Feb 29 to March 1 and poised to redefine the business events landscape in Sabah.

With the theme “Gathering of the International Business Events Communities” the two-day forum featuring both local and international thought leaders will be held at SICC, in efforts to position Sabah as a preferred business events destination in Malaysia.

SICC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki, said the event also aims to establish a platform for knowledge exchange, gaining insights from industry experts, facilitating network opportunities and exchanging leads on evolving industry trends.

“The aims of the forum are transformative. This gathering will offer a unique opportunity to glean insights from expert speakers and panellists, showcasing their success in nurturing business events in their respective regions.

“The forum features eight international speakers, eight Malaysian speakers, and five local Sabahan moderators, ensuring a diverse and enriching experience.

“Our goal is to leverage this event to stimulate interest and participation, ultimately positioning Sabah as the preferred business events destination not only in Malaysia but within the Asia Pacific region,” she told a press conference at SICC, here.

She said attendees, especially professional  event organisers, destination management companies, accommodation providers, and more, will have the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions from the line-up.

The forum is jointly organised by SICC and the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (Maceos) Sabah Chapter, which is expected to garner some 500 delegates.

It is supported by the Sabah Tourism, Culture & Environment Ministry, Malaysia Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry in a strategic partnership with Maceos, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), and Sabah Tourism Board (STB).

Registration fees are charged at RM300 for Maceos members and RM400 for non-Maceos members.

Registration is open until Feb 5 and those interested can contact Donaty Koijin at +6011 5505 7651 or email [email protected].

“In line with SICC’s tagline, “Experience Exceptional Sabah Nature & Culture,” let us unite, innovate, and create a legacy.

“Join us at the business events forum as we shape the future of business events in this beautiful region. Together, we will showcase the best that Sabah has to offer on the global stage,” said Rosmawati.

Meanwhile, SICC announced its much-anticipated “Taste of The World” Ramadan Dinner Buffet, set to take place at the Kinabatangan Hall, Level 2, from March 15 to April 9.

SICC’s award-winning Malay Cuisine Chef Muhammad Hussin said the spread features a curation of authentic and fusion Asia as well as international dishes.

“Our goal is to immerse guests in the diverse spectrum of flavours, innovative cooking techniques and exceptional ingredients unique to each culinary heritage and destination,” he said.

Rosmawati said SICC is now offering limited early bird vouchers for adults (RM138) and senior citizens (RM118) until Mar 10. Normal prices are RM168 and RM138 respectively.
