KOTA KINABALU: A former
Daily Express reporter became Sabah's first organ donor this year after passing away due to medical complications recently.
The late Kriscy Limjoon, 43, donated a pair of eyes after her family expressed their desire to donate organs to help other patients in need.
State Health Department Director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna said the assessment results found only the eyes were suitable for donation, and the family agreed to fulfil the pure intention.
"The donated eyes have also successfully been transplanted and helped restore the vision of two other patients," he said in a statement, Friday.
A mother of two, Kriscy from Kampung Domis Hungab, Penampang, had previously worked as a reporter for the Daily Express and an English teacher at a private school.
Asits said that although the deceased did not have the chance to register as an organ donor, she had discussed with her family the desire to donate organs.
"The State Health Department expresses condolences and highest gratitude to the family for this donation.
"May the soul of the deceased be blessed, and may the family be given strength to face this loss," he said.
