Kota Kinabalu: A schoolteacher recently shared his experience of refurbishing his classroom to look like a café in Sarawak.

The Facebook user under the name "Cikgu Al Tarmizi" said the classroom was transformed from an ordinary one to a more comfortable one.

“Even though it is a school in a rural area, I will make the atmosphere conducive enough so that my students enjoy learning," he said in conjunction with the upcoming Teacher’s Day.

“I am sure and believe many fellow teachers out there are doing their best for the children,”

Cikgu Al Tarmizi who used part of his allowance for his students recounted that his journey to become a teacher was not as easy.

“My father always shares stories of how much he was interested to be a teacher but he could only attend school until primary four, so since then, I wanted to become one to fulfill his dream and eight out of eleven of my siblings are teachers.

“My exam results were not that good but thanks to prayers and also efforts, I succeeded,” he said.

Forty-two photos were uploaded onto Cikgu Al Tarmizi’s Facebook profile and in most of the photos, one can see big smiles on the students' faces.
