KENINGAU: The local community in the district is advised to be regular blood donors to help those in need, said Bingkor Assemblyman Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nurdin here.

He said donating blood is a noble act that can save the lives of those in need as well as to improve the health of the donors themselves.

“If we are eligible to donate, go to any blood donation programme organised by a trusted organisation. “Make it a practice to be generous to the Blood Transfusion Medical Unit of a nearby hospital,” he said while visiting the Blood Donation Programme held at Bataras Supermarket here, Saturday.

The programmed was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Upper Interior Division in collaboration with the Keningau Hospital Blood Transfusion Unit and the Keningau Branch Red Crescent Society.

In the same programme, Robert who is also the Assistant Minister of Works, presented several food baskets to be distributed to blood donors.

Robert also advised the community to continue to work together to curb the spread of Covid-19 and immediately get vaccinated to avoid becoming a victim of the disease. The one-day programme targets 30 pints of blood from donors in the district in conjunction with this year’s Sabah Youth Day celebration.
