Motorcyclist dies in Papar crash

The victim’s motorcycle ended in a drain after hitting a guard rail.
PAPAR: A 20-year-old motorcyclist died on the spot after ramming into a guard rail along Km 7 Jalan Lama Papar–Kota Kinabalu, here, on Sunday night.District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the incident occurred at about 8.50pm when the victim lost control of his motorcycle while travelling towards Benoni from Kampung Simpudu.

“The deceased was thrown off his motorcycle into a small drain located five metres from the road due to impact of hitting a guard rail that was on the right side of the road.
“The victim suffered serious head injuries and was later pronounced dead by Papar Hospital Medical Officer,” he said.
The body was sent to the forensic unit for a post-mortem.
Kamaruddin said it was also believed that the victim was returning from a drinking session at his friend’s home in Kampung Simpudu.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
