The integration of Celcom and Digi networks is expected to consolidate their combined 12,000 sites into a single network of 18,000 sites, says CelcomDigi.
PETALING JAYA: CelcomDigi Bhd has considered speeding up the merger integration efforts between Celcom and Digi networks as the company is on track to achieve 30% integration by year-end.
CelcomDigi CEO Idham Nawawi said the network integration and modernisation of over 4,400 sites had been achieved as of end-Oct 2023, which is equivalent to 80% of the company’s plan.
ADVERTISEMENT “We might integrate more this year than what we planned earlier, which is 30% will be done this year, while another 40% next year and the remaining 30% in the third year,” he said after officiating at the launch of CelcomDigi all-in fifth generation (5G) and fourth generation (4G) postpaid plans today.
However, when asked whether CelcomDigi would set a new target, he said the numbers would not be much different from the initial targets.
Previously, CelcomDigi said that the merger would see a thorough integration of the network and is expected to be completed within the next 24 to 30 months by consolidating the respective 12,000 sites from Celcom and Digi into a single network of 18,000 sites.
Meanwhile, CelcomDigi has introduced its new CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans, inviting Malaysians to enjoy greater 5G-enabled connectivity experiences on Malaysia’s widest and fastest network.
