Python scare for Tuaran woman

Tuaran: A woman had a terrifying experience when a python appeared in front of her in Taman Telipok Jaya here on Monday.
Aminah Ahmad, 37, said she was cleaning the basement of her house when the reptile appeared at 7.30am.

“I was shocked to see the python slitter near me before it went into a coiled position,” she said.
“I didn’t dare to ward off the snake due to its huge size,” she added.
Fearing for her family’s safety, she hurried to her phone and called the Civil Defence Force for assistance.
Meanwhile, Tuaran Civil Defence Force Officer Jimmy Alberto Tining said a team was dispatched to the area after receiving a 7.34am call.

“Upon arrival, the team discovered the 3.5m-long reptile, weighing about 11kg, in the house basement.
“It took the team about five minutes to capture the snake,” he said, adding that the operation ended at 8.05am

The snake has since been released to its natural habitat, away from humans.
