Kota Kinabalu: Public servants in the Chief Minister’s Department (JKM) have been urged to bolster the State Government’s “Smart Digital Government” digitisation initiative.

In making the call, State Secretary Datuk Safar Untong hoped they could continue providing excellent service delivery to the rakyat, towards implementing the 5 A’s of the digitisation initiative, namely “Accessible by Anyone At Anytime, Anywhere and By Any Mobile Device”.

“In this fast-paced era, the desires and wishes of the people also demand changes in obtaining government services.

“In order to fulfil the wishes of the people, we must always look ahead to ensure that civil servants continue to remain relevant and provide the best service to the people.

“The public service is the backbone of the country,” he said in his speech during the JKM Appreciation Night at The Pacific Sutera, here, Friday.

Also present was Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who presented the Excellence Award (APC) to recipients.

Safar said 125 JKM civil servants from 15 offices, divisions and units were selected to receive the APC for the 2018- 2023 period.

He added that another 39 individuals will receive the special award (Anugerah Khas) for 2021 to 2023.

“The Government is always committed to recognising the culture of excellent work, commitment and service provided by civil servants through giving various awards.

“By awarding the APC, I hope it can encourage officers and staff to continue giving their commitment and effort to improve productivity and produce high quality work.

“This simultaneously ensures that the Government service remains relevant and trusted by the people, as well as meeting their wishes and expectations.

“This recognition should also create healthy competition among all officers and staff to prove each other’s ability in providing the best service,” he said.
