KOTA KINABALU: Sabahan Roihan Ang recently braved the cold waters in Vladivostok, Russia, to participate in the 10th Under Ice Games.

The 32-year-old Padi (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) course director secured the fifth spot among 30 participants after completing the navigation route in ice-cold water.

It was understood that the Semporna diver was the sole representative from Malaysia.

“It is an honour to represent Malaysia in the International Under Ice Games. Adapting to the temperature is a key factor.

“The goal was to gain first experience in ice diving, then the result,” he said in his Facebook post.

Last year, he made his way into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the first person to successfully dive to a depth of 164 metres in the waters off Sipadan Island.
