Jetama - Symbior: Solar PV Power Sdn Bhd starts commercial operation of 10 MWac Solar Plant in Labuan
The project by Solar PV Power Sdn Bhd (SPVP) - a joint venture of Jetama Energy Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Jetama Sdn Bhd (Jetama), the water concessionaire for the West Coast of Sabah, and solar developer Symbior Solar Siam Limited (Symbior) is currently the largest solar PV project in Labuan.
LABUAN: Labuan’s first 10MWac large scale solar plant has commenced its commercial operations (COD) early this month, substantially improving Sabah and Labuan’s power grid electricity reserve margin and easing load-shedding for some areas within the grid.

Located in Kg Bukit Kallam, the development of this 10MWac LSS plant spans about 32 acres and the facility houses an array of over 22,000 bi-facial solar panels mounted on single-axis solar trackers, collectively harnessing the power from the sun to generate 10MWac of clean electricity.

It was awarded after Jetama and Symbior’s joint bid submission under the second round of the Malaysian Large-Scale Solar program (LSS2).

SPVP signed the 21-year Power Purchase Agreement with Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd in December 2021.

“Jetama is currently embarking on our first significant project to establish our presence in renewable energy, and we will continue to expand other sustainable and greener initiatives that are aligned with the Sabah Maju Jaya roadmap”, as stated by CEO of Jetama, Mr Ahmad Naim Uddang.

The 10MWac solar power plant, represents Jetama’s and its partner’s commitment towards achieving the government’s renewable energy goals and supporting the Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040 (Sabah Energy RAMP 2040) agenda.
