16 imitation firearms seized

Among the fake firearms confiscated by police.
LAHAD DATU: Police seized 16 imitation firearms and arrested a 27-year-old man.
A team from the Sabah Criminal Investigation Department (CID) special investigation unit (D9) and Lahad Datu CID raided a house in Bandar Sri Perdana following information at 10.30am.

Sabah CID Chief, SAC Azmi Abd Rahim said, the seizures comprise seven rifles and nine guns.
He said police also seized five packets of bullets, two units of gun gas barrels, two units of chargers, two units of fast loaders, 14 units of sniper cartridges, seven units of pistol cartridges and a unit of sniper cartridge.
“The suspect and the seizures were taken to Lahad Datu Police Headquarters for further action.
‘’The suspect admitted that the fake firearms belonged to him and admitted buying them via Facebook,” he said.

Azmi added that further investigations are being carried out under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960.
He reminds members of the public not to sell or keep fake firearms as it violates the laws.
