Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government Teachers Union (KGKS) welcomes and fully supports the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) move to appoint 6,034 new teachers on a contract basis to address the shortage of teachers.
Its President Murkam Hussien said it would undoubtedly provide relief not only to schools but also the communities.

He said the shortage of teachers has an impact on the learning process and the development of students at school.
“If there are sufficient teaching staff, the teaching and learning process can be smoother and more effective.
“This can help to produce quality students, in line with the National Education Philosophy,” Murkam said.
On April 17, the MoE said the shortage of 20,000 teachers was being addressed with the appointment of 6,034 new teachers on a contract basis in schools under the Ministry’s management.
