BONGAWAN: A massive five-metre long crocodile was sighted on the banks of Bongawan River (pic) in Kg Laut, raising concerns among the locals about safety in the area.
A resident claimed he saw the crocodile landed near the river, and warned about the dangers it posed, especially to children who often swim in the river.

He said residents need to be more vigilant when carrying out activities near the river and advised parents to refrain their children from swimming in the river.
“The Wildlife Department should intervene and capture the crocodile to ensure the safety of the local community, which consists mostly of fishermen.
“It is best for the Department to capture the crocodile because the activities of the residents, most of whom are fishermen, will be limited,” he added.
