PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin in Tokyo yesterday, during which the two leaders discussed developing joint special economic zones, especially in the halal industry.

“The momentum is here and we are expanding opportunities for our key industries together,” Srettha said on his official X account, adding that he and Anwar had fruitful discussions, building on their previous meeting in Melbourne, Australia, earlier this year, Bernama reported.

He also said they discussed the development of customs infrastructure and bridges to promote connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia, promotion of tourism through the “six countries, one destination” initiative, and expanding opportunities for the two countries’ core industries.

Both the prime ministers are in Tokyo to attend the 29th international conference on the future of Asia.
