THE Kaamatan festival, synonymous with Unduk Ngadau and a highlight of the event, requires no introduction.

This year, the theme “Kaamatan Beyond Food Security” exemplifies the state government’s strong commitment and initiative towards ensuring food security, particularly regarding rice production.

The Kaamatan Festival holds immense significance as it is a time to express gratitude to Kinoingan for the blessings of Bambarayon (the spirit of the paddy) and to honour Huminodun’s selfless sacrifice for the well-being of the community.

Huminodun, who offered to sacrifice herself to transform into rice and feed the people, has since ensured bountiful harvests.
