SK St Anne wins SMathEn Carnival 2019

LABUAN: SK St Anne Labuan was crowned overall champions at the national-level Science, Mathematics and English (SMathEn) Carnival 2019.
The local school emerged champs after they bagged four of the five categories contested including the Big Book competition, G-Math (group), G-Math (individual), and the Vex Robotic (Conquer The Field Challenge).

SK St. Anne also secured a bronze in the Game Development competition.
Meanwhile, overall runner-up was awarded to SK Cyberjaya from Selangor after they secure a gold in the Game Development competition and two silvers in the G-Math (group) and the Big Book competition.
SK Parit Jawa from Johor won third place after they secured a silver in the Game Development competition.
Some 25 primary schools nationwide participated in the two-day carnival here including schools from Putrajaya, Selangor, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan as the hosts.

Labuan MP Datuk Rozman Isli presented the prizes and contributed RM5,000 to the Carnival.
He said the Carnival was of value to foster creative and critical thinking as well as enhance communication skills among students beginning from a young age.

“The Carnival also provides our youth with the platform to uncover and sharpen their talents in mastering a wide range of skills and knowledge in a seamless and competitive environment.

“This Carnival also opens up opportunities for the island to be part of education tourism which in turn can help spur the local economy,” he said.
Also present were Labuan Education Department director Raisin Saidin, SK St Anne senior teachers’ assistant Chua Lai Eng @ Cecilia, and SK St Anner former headmistress and SMathEn pioneer, Shim Ching Teo.
