Madius lacks loyalty, conscience: PAS
SANDAKAN: Sabah PAS labelled Upko President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau as the one who is more extreme and opportunistic due to his jumping from Barisan Nasional (BN) to Warisan and causing the BN government to topple.

“This is what disrupts racial unity, which does not appreciate the support and desire of the people of this country.

“Leaders like him without conscience and loyalty should be rejected by the people,” said Deputy Commissioner III PAS Sabah who is also Sandakan PAS President Sahar Abdul Majid.

He said Madius lacked substantial ideas to support his campaign and was making baseless accusations regarding Parti Islam SeMalaysia in the Kimanis by-election.

Madius had said PAS is an extreme religious party which caused racial disunity in Sabah, during one of his campaigns in conjunction with a Christmas celebration, here.

Sahar said Madius was also recorded last year for  claiming that Islamisation in Tambunan over 30 years ago was due to coercion and intimidation.

He called on Madius to refer to various religious and ethnic groups in PAS-governed States such as Kelantan and Terengganu, who live in harmony and unity.

“In fact, two of the largest Buddhist statues in Southeast Asia are located in Kelantan, Wat Protivihan in Kampung Berok and Wat Machimmaram in Tumpat. So if PAS is too religious, it is unlikely that the Buddhist statues will exist.

“We invite Upko’s top leaders to come to Kelantan and Terengganu and to speak publicly with non-Muslims in the state including non-Muslim leaders holding office in the state government,” he said.

“For the people of Sabah, we must warn all parties including political leaders to respect the diversity of races and religions in the state as our foundation is unity and harmony in freedom of religion in accordance with existing law,” he added.

He also expressed confidence that Sabahans of various races and religions, especially the people of Kimanis, would not be affected by the malicious intent that any party and the Kimanis people would continue to spread and to support the BN candidates.
