KOTA BELUD: A total of 50 teenage girls at the Pondok Fi Dzilail Quran (an Islamic religious facility) have received the Social Empowerment of Reproductive Health Initiatives (Seri) kit introduced by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development through the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN).Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff said, the provision of the kits is a continuation to the tabled 2022 Budget in an effort to overcome menstrual poverty among Malaysian women.

“Among the screenings done are recipients from low-income families or the B40 group.
“So far, a total of 130,000 eligible teenage girls will receive the supply of this kit which will be distributed through 1,124 schools nationwide.
“For Sabah, a total of 14,970 teenage girls will receive this benefit,” she said at the Seri Kit Handover Ceremony and Culinary Workshop here recently.
At the same ceremony, the participants were also exposed to a briefing on personal hygiene entitled ‘Stay Positive with Effective Menstrual Management’ presented by LPPKN Human Reproductive Division Medical Officer, Dr Wan Hilya Munira Mustapha.

Also present were the Ministry’s Deputy Secretary General, Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusoff, LPPKN Director General, Abdul Shukur Abdullah and Sabah LPPKN Director, Chai Cheng Ho.
