LABUAN: Three civil servants were remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here, Tuesday, on suspicion of using their positions by appointing a company owned by a family member.
The five-day remand order until Sunday was imposed on the three suspects, in their 40s, by Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad after an application was made by the MACC at the Labuan Magistrate’s Court.

According to sources, the three used their positions when appointing two companies owned by their wife and younger brother for the supply of sports equipment with a contract estimated at RM80,000.
“Preliminary investigations found that the contract involved the supply of sports equipment for schools in Labuan from 2018 to 2021.
“The three suspects were arrested between 7pm and 8pm on Monday when they appeared at the Labuan MACC office to have their statements recorded,” said the source.
Labuan MACC Director Datu Robbyie Shym Datu Pindatun confirmed the arrests.
