Kota Kinabalu: Police said they have rescued four Filipinas believed to be human trafficking victims in Labuan and Penampang and arrested two women suspects in a major anti-trafficking operation codenamed "Pintas".
On April 26, a raid was conducted at a hotel in Labuan town, leading to the rescue of three Filipinas, while the fourth Filipina who had escaped to Penampang was rescued the next day.
The four victims, aged between 31 and 33, are believed to have been forced to work as service crew at an entertainment outlet in Labuan against their will.
The two suspects – a 36-year-old local woman and a 22-year-old Filipina – have been remanded for seven and five days respectively.
