Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Anthony Linggian has been appointed by Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM) to conduct an introduction to referees course in Miri, Sarawak on May 26.

According to him, the two-day course to prepare participants from Sarawak for future BAM accreditation referees courses, especially on assessment and promotion has received very positive response.

The Sabahan said he will continue to stay in Miri until May 30 to assist the local Junior Championships as tournament referee where he will demonstrate the art of refereeing.

He had earlier also conducted the Badminton Asia accredited referees course in Kuala Lumpur in January  this year which was attended by 36 candidates  from all over Asia.

He said the presentation was conducted over five days followed by a written examination for the candidates to gain promotion as international referees.

He added that a  BAM accredited referees course with 14 candidates was also conducted by him in Penang last November.

According to him, the course will assist many states in the country  to appoint BAM referees to manage their local tournaments as well as national tournaments.
