Switch on designation, transfer of base ceremony at Lok Kawi Camp
KOTA KINABALU: A symbolic switch in designation of the army Task Force 450 (AT 450) to Fifth Division and the transfer of the Fifth Brigade (MK 5 Bgd) base from Lok Kawi Camp to Paradise Camp in Kota Belud was held at the Lok Kawi Camp here, Tuesday.

The 4.50pm ceremony was witnessed and officiated by Army Chief (PTD) General Datuk Seri Ahmad Hasbullah Mohd Nawawi.

The Fifth Brigade was initiated in Tawau on Jan 1,1964 before it was relocated to Lok Kawi Camp in April 4, 1970. The brigade has been in Lok Kawi for 49 years. 

While the AT 450 was formed at Lok Kawi Camp on March 27, 2014 and was relocated to Paradise Camp on April 15, 2015, until it was designated to Fifth Division.

The ceremony begun with the acceptance of salute from the contingent parade consisting 12 personnel and 685 other members of various ranks of AT 450 lead by the officer in charge of the 22nd Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (22 RAMD), Colonel Liutenant Mohd Ridzwan Abdullah.

It was then followed by a gimmick demonstrated by 21 Special Task Force in conjunction with the fourth series of “Buku Dari Meja Panglima Tentera Darat’ (DMPTD) book and poem compilations which was followed with a performance by the ‘Pusat Kor Armor Diraja’ band.

The highlight of the event was the lowering of the AT 450 and Fifth Brigade flags, followed by the last post as a symbol of MK AT 450’s new designation to Fifth Division as well as the MK Fifth Brigade transfer from Lok Kawi Camp to Paradise Camp.

Subsequently, the AT 450 flag was handed over to the PTD by the 5th Division commander, Major General Mohamad Khir Abdullah as the dissolved symbol of the AT 450. 

The Fifth Brigade’s flag was handed over to PTD by a Brigade Muhammed Hafizuddeain Jantan before handing it to the 5th Brigade representative as a symbol for the flag being raised at the Paradise Camp.

Also presence was Army deputy chief, Lt Gen Datuk Hasagaya Abdullah, West Chief Army, Lt Gen Nazir Mami, East Chief Army, Lt Gen Wira Zamrose Mohd Zain.
