Safe travel corridor opens next week

JAKARTA: Indonesia’s airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) will implement the provisions set forth in the travel corridor arrangement (TCA) between the Indonesian and Singaporean governments. The TCA will be in effect starting October 26.

AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin said that the company had prepared special entry and exit routes for Indonesian and Singaporean passengers who joined the scheme.

“There are a number of checkpoints with procedures that focus on health aspects,” he said in a written statement, Sunday.

The health check procedures include measuring body temperature, requiring passengers to have polymerase chain reaction or PCR test results that are valid for 72 hours, and undergo health verification using an electronic system. The procedure for passengers from Singapore is not much different, only needing to go through immigration and customs.

The special flight corridor is one of six bilateral collaborations agreed by Indonesia and Singapore some time ago.

Also known as the reciprocal green lane (RGL), the safe corridor is only for urgent travels such as important business, diplomatic affairs, and certain official services. In Indonesia, there are two gateways allowed in the TCA: Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta and Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai.
