Covid-19: Three Sabah deaths, 935 new cases nationwide
PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry has reported 935 Covid-19 cases and three deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,555 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 49,056.

It is the highest number of daily recoveries to date.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the 935 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 60,752.

Meanwhile, the three deaths bring the toll to 348.

Noor Hisham said Sabah recorded the highest number of cases today with 326 cases, followed by Selangor (161) and Negeri Sembilan (158).

He said most of the cases in Sabah were detected through close contact screenings, and 14 came from the newly identified Bot Biru and Blok 31 clusters.

Meanwhile, the majority of the cases in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan came from existing clusters and Covid-19 screenings in both states.

He added that 103 cases today were from lock-ups and prisons, 95 of which were from the Bakti cluster in Negeri Sembilan.

The Tembok cluster in Kedah reported five cases, while in Sabah, the GK Tawau cluster recorded two infections and the Kepayan cluster recorded one infection.

Other states with new cases reported today were Perak (79), Johor (60), Kuala Lumpur (59), Kelantan (28), Kedah (24), Penang (17), Labuan (13), Putrajaya (five), Sarawak (four) and Terengganu (one).

On the three deaths today, Noor Hisham said they were all Malaysians from Sabah, and comprised two women and one man, aged between 59 and 77. One of the women and the man had a history of chronic illnesses.

There are currently 11,348 active cases with 110 patients receiving intensive care, of which 45 require respiratory assistance.

Perlis, Melaka and Pahang did not record any new cases today.

Out of the 935 cases recorded today, four were imported cases.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah this evening said six new clusters were detected in the last 24 hours.

They are the Bot Biru and Blok 31 clusters from Tawau, Sabah; the Gemilang cluster in Johor Bahru, Johor; the Sungai Udang construction site cluster in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur; the Chengal cluster involving Kota Bharu and Machang in Kelantan; and the Damar Laut cluster involving the Timur Laut and Barat Daya districts in Penang and also Padang Terap in Kedah.

The Bot Biru cluster first involved a patient who tested positive on Nov 15 after exhibiting symptoms. So far, 23 people have been screened with 17 testing positive.

The index case of the Blok 31 cluster was a patient who tested positive after exhibiting symptoms on Nov 21. So far, 26 people have been screened and 13 tested positive.

The first case in the Gemilang cluster involved a severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) patient who tested positive on Nov 24. There have been 26 positive cases in this cluster from 95 people screened so far.

The Sungai Udang construction site cluster was detected in Kepong, first involving a worker who tested positive in a workplace screening on Nov 22.

Up until today, 196 people have been screened, with 11 testing positive.

The index case in the Chengal cluster was a SARI patient who tested positive on Nov 21. So far, 254 people have been screened for Covid-19 while 15 have tested positive.

Lastly, the index cases in the Damar Laut cluster comprised five individuals who tested positive between Nov 21 to Nov 25 after all of them exhibited symptoms.

A total of 651 people have been screened so far, with 13 positive cases detected.
