5,793 new Covid-19 cases, 76 deaths

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has reported 5,793 new Covid-19 cases and 76 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 8,334 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 572,113.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 652,204.

There are 76,247 active cases, with 459 of them being treated in intensive care and 914 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 76 deaths take the number of fatalities to 3,844

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,582.

This was followed by Negeri Sembilan (618), Sarawak (569), Kuala Lumpur (559), Johor (504), Sabah (378), Kelantan (337), Labuan (25), Perak (218), Penang (198), Melaka (178), Kedah (171), Pahang (121), Terengganu (82), Putrajaya (23), and Perlis (5).

There were 5,787 local infections Saturday, comprising 4,851 Malaysians and 936 foreigners, as well as six imported cases.

The 76 dead were all Malaysians, aged between 31 and 90.
