Jokowi’s wealth up by around Rp8.9b
JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) recorded that 70.3 percent of state officials’ assets increased during the past year or during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on Tempo’s investigation, one of them is President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo whose assets rose by around Rp8.9 billion.

Tempo accessed the wealth report data through the KPK’s online wealth report (e-LHKPN) website. Based on the 2020 periodic report submitted on March 13, 2021, the President’s total assets amounted to more than Rp63 billion, or to be exact Rp63,616,935,818.

The assets consist of 20 lands and buildings worth Rp53,281,696,000 in Central Java and South Jakarta. He also owned vehicles and machinery worth Rp527,500,000, including seven cars and one motorcycle.

Additionally, his moveable assets reached Rp357,500,000, while his cash and cash equivalents were worth Rp10,047,790,536. The country’s top man has debts of Rp597,550,718.

Compared to last year’s report, Jokowi’s total wealth reached Rp54,718,200,893. His assets of lands and buildings, as well as vehicles, remained in the same number, but the values increased according to the price appreciation. The KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Pahala Nainggolan said on Tuesday, September 7, that the wealth increase was not a sin as long as the statistics remain reasonable. He explained it did not necessarily indicate that an official committed corruption as it was also attributable to the appreciation in the assets’ value.
