Kota Kinabalu: Johnson Koh has been re-elected Sabah Tennis Association (STA) president at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) held online on Tuesday.

He faced no challengers as he was the only name proposed by the representatives from the affiliates.

Kota Kinabalu Tennis Association President Datuk Idrus Shafie was named the vice president unopposed after Christopher Lim turned down early proposal due to work commitment.

The committee members are Mohd. Rashid Abdul Ghani (Keningau), Jamad Ahmad (Semporna), Madeezuan Madzi (Kuala Penyu), Mahmuddin Hj Mohd Onon (Kota Belud) and Claire Godon (Kota Kinabalu – Female Nominee) while the auditors are Shamsuddin Mustamin and Judy Ngui.

Meanwhile, Johnson said they have passed resolutions to pursue with the relevant authorities on the inclusion of tennis as a compulsory sport in future Sukma Games and also on the appropriate SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for tennis.

He argued that tennis should not be included in the same SOP with badminton, squash and ping pong as tennis is completely different in terms of size of court, distancing specifications and it is also an outdoor sport.
