MA63 rights govt-to-govt matter, not individuals: Joniston
Discussions between individual leaders alone are insufficient because such a serious subject demands deeper collaboration and communication at the governmental level, says the GRS election candidate for Tuaran.
Tuaran: The pursuit of state rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 involves negotiations between the federal and state governments rather than individuals, said GRS's Tuaran candidate in the upcoming general election, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.

He said discussions between individual leaders alone are insufficient because such a serious subject demands deeper collaboration and communication at the governmental level.

He said Sabah requires leaders who are part of the State Government and who genuinely put the interests of the people first, as well as those who will go to great lengths to gather evidence in support of the state's claims under MA63.

Joniston, who serves as Kiulu assemblyman and state Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, said this during his campaign trail at Kampung Sawah in Tamparuli, Tuaran, on Wednesday, according to a statement.
