Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC will be taking on PDRM FC in their opening match in this season’s Super League competition at Likas Stadium on February 25.

Based on the official schedule released by Malaysia Football League (MFL) on Thursday, they will also play their next match at home against Kelantan United FC on March 1.

Their first away match of the new season is a Borneo derby with Kuching FC at the State Stadium on March 6 followed by a trip to Kuantan against Sri Pahang FC at Stadium Darul Makmur on March 12.

It will be a very long season with 26 matches to play and Sabah FC are scheduled to meet Kedah Darul Aman FC at home  in the  final match  on December 17 .

A total of 14 clubs will be contesting in the Super League this season and the rest of the participating  teams are Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Terengganu FC,  Negeri Sembilan FC, Selangor FC, Kuala Lumpur City FC, Sri Pahang FC, Kedah Darul Aman FC, Penang FC, Kelantan FC, Kuching City FC, Kelantan United FC, PDRM FC and Perak FC.

Meanwhile, Sabah FC who started their training session early this month will be leaving for Thailand today for a series of pre-season friendlies.

They are scheduled to play in four matches against Seoul FC, a club from Denmark and two local Thai outfits before they return on February 5.

There were no details on the number of players to be included on the tour but they are likely to include the three new foreign imports announced on their official media page recently.

The trio are former Portugal Under-17 player and midfielder Talmo Castanheira, Brazilian centre back Gabriel Peres and striker Jacob Njoku who played for Kelantan United last season.

Talmo is to fill the spot left vacant following the departure of Taiki Kagayama while Gabriel replaces fellow countryman Jackson De Souza. Jacob on the other hand, will take over the role of Jose Embalo up front.
